Shoes were thrown and curses hurled when Tony Blair signed his autobiography in a Dublin bookstore. Now Blair has cancelled his London book signing because of fear of violence. A group is going from bookstore to bookstore in London trying to have Blair’s book moved into in the Crime Section. The problem is Blair’s unstinting support of George Bush and the Iraq war. I have read pertinent sections of the book and, try as he might, Blair does not convince me that he made the right decision to take Britain the war. (Thank heavens |Jean Chretien turned down Bush when he was asked to lead Canada into “the coalition of the willing.”) Blair once stood in the House of Commons and said Saddam could launch an attack on Britain within 45 minutes !!
In fact there is good reason to believe that Britain’s senior law officer, the Attorney-General, wrote an opinion that said the Iraq was illegal and the opinion was ignored.
Is Blair a war hero because of his leadership in the Iraq war?
Would you subversively move Blair’s book to the Crime Section of your local bookstore?
