A winter’s query

What is your most memorable experience of winter?

If you leave in the eastern part of North America- Canada how did you cope with the severe cold? Were you affected by thawing and freezing as Montreal was?

Are you a skier or snowboarder?

If you are a snowboarder why did you choose that sport?

I was on the track team at a small university on the pier of Lake Michigan (winter 1954) . The coach told us to do our usual 2-5 mile run. In sub zero weather? We did it and it was exhilerating!
Clem, now in sunny Arizona .

I felt I needed to get out of sunny California. That was 1964–one of the coldest winter’s on record at that time when I moved to Missoula, Montana, in order to attend school at the University of Montana. When I started there, it was Montana State University–then they switched out the name with the school in Bozeman; it became UoM… When them temp reached 40 below a a couple of occasions, I was ecstatic. While colder than Big Bear in the winter in Southern California, it was even more exhilarating. Nowadays, as I approach my 70th birthday, I wouldn’t live in a clime as cold as Western Montana. It’s cold enough here in Siskiyou County California. It sometimes reached 5 below–but never anywhere near what it is in Western Montana. I now prefer warmth! I’m old!

I did cope with the cold by making food that did put a comforting smell in the house. Invite people in and have nice casual night with games ! Cold winter night in Montreal are the best for social fun !

This year was 2 specials night in my memories : my Christmas diner with all of my 13 family and friends that came to my house ! It was a magical night ! And our night skiing as a family. My husband first time in almost 15 years ! It was so much fun !!
