A new report has just been issued on the priestly sex scandals in the diocese of Cloyne in Ireland.  The report slam s the former bishop of Cloyne, John McGee, for not reporting the raping of little boys by his priests.

Another finding  reaches right up to the Vatican.  In 1996 the Irish bishops signed an agreement whereby they would report offending priests to the civil authorities.  But some  Irish bishops andchurch officials dissented from this agreement.  A number of high churchmen in the Vatican sided with these dissenters.  Today the Irish Prime Minister, Enda Kenny, sai d publicly that the Vatican’s attitude in the sex matter was “disgraceful and unacceptable.”

The Irish parliament now plans to introduce legislation to force the church to report sex crimes to the police.

In addition German Catholic bishops are releasing data showing how priests were involved in sex crimes in their jurisdiction.

Is there any end to this drip-drip of sexual scandal in the self-styled “one true church”?

Isthere any way Rome can put a stop to priests raping little boys and bishops covering it up?

What do you think?

Someone hasn’t found the nerve to tell the Pope that the way to handle people i.e. ‘don’t answer them and in due time they will forget about the problem. People have such short memories.”, doesn’t apply any more. The new age memory is the computer and its social network. Dear God please bring this absolute disaster a computer for Christmas.. Dear God, please teach me to be kind to lost causes.

    Neil McKenty Says:

Early on in this priest and bishop sex scandal, it was said by many observers that this was the most damaging blow to the Roman church since the Reformation.

    That’s no longer correct.

    It’s worse.
