IS IT LIKELY THE SEX WAS CONSENSUAL?

I realize that Mr Srauss-Kahn is innocent until proven guilty.  I also realize that we do not have all the facts.  Still the broad contours of the case are now emerging in the media.

Strauss-Kahn   has hired Benjamin Brafman, perhaps the most accomplished criminal lawyers in the New York Bar.  So far the facts do not look good for his client.  According to the hotel maid, Strauss-Kahn chased her down a hallway, grabbed her breasts, tried to pull down her pantyhose and force her to perform oral sex.

However, it has now emerged that his lawyer may argue in court that the whole episode was consensual  sex and that the maid is either mistaken or lying.

If you were on a jury for this case and based on what you know now would you be inclined to think this was a matter of consensual sex?

Is it likely the sex was consensual?

What do you think?

…based on what you know now…

What I know is from 7th-hand media reports which change by the hour.

Sure, I can muster an opinion about what I’ve read and, I suppose, it’s “what I know” but, gosh, does anyone believe it has any connection to a scintilla of the reality of what really happened?

What I can say is this: if he did what is alleged by police that he did then I’m really glad they nabbed him before he got on that plane to France where he would have pulled a Polanski for 35 years.

Isn’t it strange that had he not telephoned the hotel to find out about his mobile phone he would be sitting happily now in France.

It is more ironic than strange, Neil. He is used to getting away with it, from what we hear. Still, I reserve judgment. We don’t know all the facts. He said/she said is a difficult situation for a jury to be put in.

What haunts me is all that I am hearing in the media about the sociopathic nature of some people in CEO positions.

“He is used to getting away with it.” I think this is the heart of the matter.

Barbara brings up the fact that he is used to getting away with it.

I heard a report that a woman who was allegedly raped by him about 10 years ago has now come forward to report it but says she was talked out of going to the authorities when it happened because her mother convinced her not to.

One wonders whether this rape could have been prevented had she spoke up then.

Well, for me,I do not want to take, so quick to conclusion that Mr.Struass Khan really did the act or not. However,I think a proper investigation will have to be made so as to render a fair justce to who soever deserves justice. And will love to cuation that, Mr. Khan is still presume innocent before the law, therefore,he has the right to be treated fairly until the due process can be exusted.
